Lithuania (Lietuva) is recognized as one of Europe’s gems. it’s a pocket-sized republic that’s a nature-lover’s delight.Lithuania is a Baltic country in Northern Europe. One thousand years ago its name was first mentioned, Lithuania is the only Baltic country with more than eight hundred years of statehood tradition. Lithuania battled for its independence and survival at the dividing line of Western and Eastern civilization. Lithuania was the largest state in the entire continent of Europe in the middle of the 15th century with prospered crafts and overseas trade.

Lithuania fertile central plains are separated by hilly glacial deposits. 30% of total area is covered in forest. The highest point is Aukstojas Hill at the southeast of Vilnius.

The capital city, Vilnius is a small but pleasant place with a UNESCO listed historic center. Vilnius architectural style is a mixture of baroque, gothic, renaissance and neoclassical buildings. Walk through the narrow streets and cozy courtyards and Taste coffee in one of the many cafes on Pilies Street. The main street named Gediminas Avenue lined with governmental buildings and theatres.Vilnius is also famous for the Cathedral Square, the Royal Palace, Gediminas Tower, the Presidential Palace with beautiful monuments and museums.

    Lithuania looks like such a wonderful place to visit, I’ve not been myself but I would love to get to go and explore more of Europe one day as there are so many hidden gems.
