Mauritius is a small, multicultural island in the Indian Ocean about 2,000 kilometers off the southeast coast of the African continent, east of Madagascar, NorthEast of Reunion and southeast of the Seychelles. Mauritius also controls Rodrigues Island and the remote, sparsely populated Agalega and Cargados Garayos (Saint Brandon). In the very north of Mauritius lies Grand Baie. Among the cities in Mauritius Grand Baie is the tourist capital of the island. The Bay owns a huge beach with a beautiful view with less crowded beaches.

Mauritius promotes itself as a year-round destination, although most people associate it with winter sun. The island’s peak season extends from October to April, which is hot, humid and rainy, with a slight risk of cyclones January to March. The island’s winter, from May to September.

Mark Twain once wrote, ‘Mauritius was made first and then heaven, heaven being copied after Mauritius’. It is an island for exploring, with Indian temples, colonial houses, botanical gardens, and opportunities to spot rare birds among soaring ebony trees, walk with lions or swim with dolphins are some of the Mauritius attractions activities. Mauritians, a fusion of French, Indian, Creole and Chinese peoples, are renowned for their hospitality and visitors to the islands generally rave about the service.

The tourism hub is in the north around Grand Baie, which has the greatest concentration of hotels, beaches, and entertainment. The east coast is most renowned, with some of the most celebrated hotels and stretches of arguably the most beautiful white sand beaches, while the flat, calm beaches of the west coast are favored by families. The “beautiful” south cities in Mauritius are wilder, but perhaps more interesting side. There are clutches of hotels in the southeast and more to be found squeezed onto calm stretches near pounding surf and clifftop walks in the “green” southwest.

I love this!!! I also love that the language is an extension of French. I spent 6mo in Basse Normandie in France as a nanny so going to this gorgeous destination and using my French would be amazing!!
